MFA Workshops

The MFA continues to focus our resources at supporting communities in British Columbia who face financial and economic challenges through our Workshop Program.

Workshops can take the following forms:

  1. A visit by a MFA staff member to describe the MFA programs, services and options that the local government could consider in maximizing the benefit of the MFA;
  2. A workshop that would be comprised of a “training session” regarding bylaw procedures, borrowing options, investment opportunities and our leasing program.  Any local government that has experienced considerable staff turnover or has a number of newly elected may find this option desirable.
  3. A process of mentoring a new appointed officer who has direct responsiblity for oversight of the borrowing process with the MFA. This may also include the financial reporting as it pertains to the borrowing process.  Sponsorship by the MFA is undertaken on the basis that the host local government also makes a substantial financial commitment.

The MFA has limited financial capacity to fund these programs, so those local governments that can least afford and most need these services will be given priority.

If you have any questions regarding the Workshop Program please contact Robin Stringer, CAO
